Biography

Steven is an cademic nephrologist with an interest in innate immunity, transplantation, and infection. He is a former Director of the UK Medical Research Council Centre for Transplantation at King’s College London. His work addresses the role of locally produced complement components and their influence on transplant ischaemia-reperfusion injury and rejection. He has pioneered the development of techniques for imaging and blocking complement activation within tissues. He is former head of Complement UK–a national training and research organisation to promote collaborative industry-sponsored PhD studentships. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, a Fellow of King’s College London, and Senior Investigator Emeritus for the National Institute for Health Research
