Biography

Dr Atul K Patel received MD, Medicine from BJ Medical college in 1992. 

Current position: Director, Department of Infectious Diseases, Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad. 

He is a visiting Associate Prof. in Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Morsani Collage of Medicine, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL. USA.

He is also a teacher for FNB Infectious Diseases at Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad.

He received a fellow of Infectious Diseases Society of America conferred fellow in Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2014 (FIDSA).

He has published 71 research papers in a peer-reviewed journals including Lancet Infectious Diseases, Clinical Infectious Diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases, JAIDS, Intensive care medicine, Mycosis, Medical Mycology, Journal of antimicrobial chemotherapy.

He has 8 book chapters to his credit. 

I am a part of Asian Fungal Working group, representing India and conducting training workshops for Asian countries clinicians since 2007.

I am also a member of Fungal Infection study forum and conducting and published research in invasive fungal infections burden, outcome, characteristics in India.

 

Worked with ICMR for research in Dengue and Chikungunia in the SAARC countries.

Member of ICMR Research and antiviral committee for current Covid-19 outbreak

COVID-19 task force member for Government of Gujarat, actively involved in treatment guidance of Covid-19 and coordinated and tele mentored COVID-19 treatment in all Covid treatment centers across Gujarat state.
