Dr. Rebecca Craig-Schapiro, M.D. Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Surgeon at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Dr. Craig-Schapiro received her M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her general surgery residency training at Johns Hopkins, and completed fellowship in Multi-Organ Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago. She is a board certified surgeon who specializes in kidney, pancreas, and liver transplantation. Her research focuses on studying the interactions between endothelial cells and islets to generate pre-vascularized islets for improved functional engraftment after transplantation. Dr. Craig-Schapiro is an active member of several medical societies, including the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American College of Surgeons, and the Association of Women Surgeons.
